Will I be able to lose weight?

I'm 13, 5''2, and weigh 135 pounds! I recently quit Taekwondo a half a year ago, and all my hard work of three years went down the drain, and I gained back a lot of weight! I can't believe I let my self go like that, and now I can't even go to the pool with my friends because they're both skinny and I feel like i'm the only one fat there! All my class mates are all skinny and I can't wear shorts without worrying my thighs starting a fire, seriously, they produce friction! I have to admit though, I do love pastries and sweets, but i'm willing to stop! My question is, if I only eat things like vegetables, fruits, brown bread, brown rice, chicken with no seasonings, eggs and run for 30 minutes a day for the rest of this month, will I lose weight, and how much? 3 pounds, 5? Also, does the three day diet work if you exercise along with it?? I'll do anything to lose weight, help!

How to Lose Weight Quickly Without Taking Pills

First: a healthy weight loss goal is 1-2 pounds per week. There are a little more than 3 weeks left in the month, so you could lose 3-6 pounds, or maybe a bit more because it's easy to lose weight when you're just starting out.Okay: because you're young, you should do your best to focus on eating healthy, paying attention to when you're hungry/full, doing exercise that you like, and not depriving yourself. Don't follow the 3 day diet: you basically just limit your calories on it, so you lose a lot of water weight, but you'll gain it right back and it'll be harder to lose weight later, bc your metabolism will have slowed down. (See this : http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/the-3-day-diet .) If you need a good starting point, this ( http://essenaoneill.tumblr.com/setplan ) is a simple diet/exercise plan written by a teen girl who used it to get in great shape. I really recommend it...it's very simple, flexible, and it works, because it basically focuses on eating healthy foods and paying attention to what you eat. In general, just focus on eating more fruits and veggies, whole grains (like whole wheat bread and brown rice), protein (eggs, lean meat, nuts, beans, tofu, etc.) and healthy fats (nuts, avocados, etc.). You shouldn't run every day, especially if you haven't been running up til this point, because you can get shin splints, etc. Instead, try to run 3 days a week (maybe mon, wed, fri), do easy strength training 3 days a week (tues, thurs, sat), and take at least 1 rest day. More tips: drink loads of water, take a vitamin, vary your diet, eat at home more. You can eat sweets if you'd like- I recently lost 10ish pounds, and I ate a bit of chocolate every few nights, just not a lot! Exercise portion control, and don't completely deprive yourself. Once you start seeing/feeling results, you won't want to stop, trust me!Good luck!(:

  • Drop all the sweets completely, not even one sweet every day or second day. All together. Exercise as much as you want or can but don't over-do it, give your body some days of break. Eat super well and you should lose a dozen pounds or more in the month

How much weight will I lose if I run 45 min a day for a month on an elliptical?

I'm going into highschool and kinda on the big side. I'm 6'0 and 217 pounds right now, but my goal is 190-200. I don't eat much fastfood but we do go out to eat a lot. I am made fun of by my weight a bit so that's why I'd like tp shread a couple pounds, but I'd like to know if running 45 minutes everyday on an elliptical will even help me. Thanks(:

  • You'd probably lose about 1 pound a month. If you could cut 300 calories a day, you could lose another 3 pounds a month. four pounds a month is really a good goal - its a healthy rate for weight loss that is not only sustainable over the long term but unlikely to come back. and just think that's about 40 pounds a year. Cool!
  • This is not your best option to be honest. The weight loss will only really begin after 30 mins of exercise, and presuming your 45 includes cool-down, then you are not going to lose very much.Complicating matters, good personal trainers do not use cardio as the primary weight loss measure (until well into a long-term training program, like a 1 year thing) because it causes a sharp rise in hunger levels, which makes most people eat as much if not more than the calories they burned.Your best bet is to do some cardio (say 30 mins) and also do some weight training (i.e. bench press, bentover rows... etc) and some "body weight training" (i.e. lunges, burpees, pushups). Try to focus on compound exercises (those that affect many different muscles in one motion) like squats. You can do some bicep curls and tricep extensions and other isolation exercises if you want, but they are not going to cause much development from a weight loss perspective. The point of the weight training is to build muscle so that your metabolism begins to rise. That way you can lose weight through the energy expended on the exercises AND keep the weight off after by virtue of a more active metabolism AND get additive gains such that with each passing month you will be tacking more reps (or more weight) which expends more energy while simultaneously you lose weight just by virtue of an ever increasing metabolism. As a final point- and this one is critical- success comes to those that can see into the long term. It is said that the average CEO of a major corporation can plan 20 years into the future, whereas the average person can only plan 1 year into the future; this is a major reason why CEOs are so successful. Highschool age people are notorious for only being able to see 1 maybe 2 days into the future. Break the mold and forget about 1-month fitness objectives. The only fitness objective for the month should be to perform exercise 3 or 4 days per week (2 minimum, 5 maximum) every week, every month. Even when you are tired, or have a bad day or "dont feel like it", just go do your exercises and do the best you can. Set a 12 month objective for yourself that is reasonable (in your case, I would aim for 190lbs body weight 12 months from now AND to be able to do (either) more reps or heavier weight each month in comparison to the month prior. Set a reasonable weight/rep combo for one month and ever first of the month increase. Be sure to do a 10 minute warm up and a 20 minute cool-down on your elliptical, with your weight and bodyweight training in the middle of these warmups and cooldowns.IMPORTANT: cut back a little bit (not much) on the amount of food you consume, and make sure that you never increase your food consumption in comparison to what you do now. Try to eat more protein sources (chicken breast for example) than carbs: (so for example if you presently eat 20% protein, 20% fat, 60% carbs, change this to: 40% protein, 20% fat, 40% carbs). The combination of more (% wise) protein and less total food will be crucial to weight loss. Don't eat just because you are hungry. Eat only a specified amount, and make sure the amount is less than you consume now, but only a bit less: "dieting" (as most people think of the word) as the primary mode of weight loss is stupid. The point is to burn off more energy than you consume by eating a reasonable amount of healthy food while increasing exercise.
