What would be a good calorie intake for my age?

So I'm 14 years old fairly tall but I'm not going to get into specifics. Anyways I looked up my BMI and I, barely not by much out of my wight range. I guess that's when it clicked that's need to loose some weight I have always been skinny now this summer I've gained about 20 making me the heaviest I've ever been. Now since I'm growing the heaviest I've ever been thing is not scaring me that much. So my question is what would be a good daily calorie intake to loose weight. I plan to workout and get toned up too. My goal is to have my weight in the middle area of my BMI. I want to do this safely. I plan to work out and start slowly then built myself up. I'm not going to hard core diet but I'm going to try to stay within. A Christian calorie intake but not worrying about it too much and just trying to make better choices with my health.Btw I'm a girl

How to Burn Body Fat and Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

At our age we're supposed to eat just over 2000 calories but I barely make 1000 because I have a slow metabolism. Use an online calculator to calculate your BMR or Base Metabolic Rate which is the amount of calories needed to run your body for an entire day without moving. Then take around 100 calories off and see how it goes. If you don't lose then take off another 100 and so on.

Stretch marks are pretty much permanent, but as young as you are you probably won't wind up with flabby skin. At 14 you're also not quite done growing yet, so some of the weight will redistribute and you'll look more slender at 16, 18, 20 years old even if you're the same weight you are now (or want to be).And since you're still growing, you don't want to restrict calories TOO much, especially if you're planning to increase the amount of exercise you're doing. Burning 400 cals would require some pretty vigorous exercise. Aim for at least 1600-1800 minimum. If you work your body too hard on too little food then you'll put yourself into starvation mode, which messes up your metabolism and leaves you feeling pretty awful.

  • You won't have flabby skin. I highly doubt that. And 1200 calories is too little!!! Just eat HEALTHY! That's all you need! Eat healthy and exercise. Cheers!
  • My 17 year old daughter was eating around 400-700 calories a day. She lost 5.6lb in just over a week. She became anorexic. She went from 160lb to 100lb in a few months. She did not get any flabby skin or stretch marks.
