How can I gain weight for football?

Ok well right now I am 15 years old and I am about 5'4 and I weigh like 110 pounds, (yes im skinny) im a sophomore in highschool. Over the summer I was lifting weights with the football team and I gained like 5 pounds (im not weak). Ok well im trying to get bigger because im going to be on varsity next year. I have a friend that is a senior on varsity and he is the same height as me but he weighs 145 pounds and he's not even fat. How do I gain weight? Im going to have a weight lifting class in school so I have a whole year of lifting weights 5 days a week everyday, should I take some sort of supplement like muscle milk or creatine so that I can gain weight or cytogainer?

.........eat pizza! Chase it with two steaks, and 5 hard-boiled eggs. Fact: you will "g-a-i-n" after doing this for two weeks straight........LOTS of it.

  • Yes supplements will def help. My brother gained within 2months! There's a whey supplements that tells you to gain muscles :)
  • You really should be more concerned about your conditioning and your strength. When I was a senior in High School I played Strong Safety at 5'9" and 140lbs. When I was a Sophomore I was closer to your size. Today I am 6' 1/2" and weigh 195lbs.Simply put, your body will fill out in time. You should lift weights, eat a lot, take some supplements. But to be honest, as much as you don't want to heat this, your body is really what is in control of your weight. You're not going to make significant weight gains until your body is ready to grow. I learned that the hard way myself. So the best thing you can do is control the things you can control and not try to do anything stupid regarding your weight. Don't take steroids, for example. It will actually stunt your growth (height). Get strong, get fast, and work with what you have. 110lbs running a 4.5 40yd dash and hitting anyone with the ball HURTS. It hurts you too but they don't need to know that.BTW - muscle milk is in no way a Weight gain supplement. It's a meal replacement at best. THe best supplement (seriously) is a big steak. That other stuff is not good. That, and it's expensive, and it won't help you - bottom line. Time is the only thing that will help you gain any significant weight.Good luck!
  • Gotta be 18 for creatine and the supplements you mention are crap & very expensive. Be sure to eat right (pasta, pizza, eggs, fruit, vegetables, cottagecheese) Give it time: I was around 130 in high school but am now around 170 which didn't happen overnight.
  • Go get those twinkies

  • Personally, I do not believe that you need to take any supplements for football. Moreover, I do not even believe that you need to gain any weight for football.Based on your height and weight, I believe that the best fit for you is at the wide receiver position. For your age, you have the ideal size for a high school sophomore wide receiver.Remember, the best way to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition to weight lifting, what you need to do this autumn (and every offseason) is eat healthy, and exercise by either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch wide receiver in high school varsity football, who could go on to play college football.By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your sophomore, junior, and especially senior, years of high school, NOT your size. If you perform very well in football during your final 3 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

How to Lose Weight Fast for Teens

Recommended Answer:

For weight loss, dieting is more effective than exercise.Reducing your intake of junk sugar will help as in items 22 and 106 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htmThe natural sugars in fruits are OK as they are metabolised to glucose slowly due to their high fiber content. Fruits are low in calories and are not fattening. Most fruits are metabolism boosting foods and most vegetables as well and that helps for weight loss.

Other Answers:

  • uhh, exercising and not eating junk food but instead healthy food might help
  • GM DIET! 10 LBS IN A WEEK AND YOU EAT NON STOP. GOOGLE IT. Fasting is good if not done longer than a week.
  • It actually helps to lose weight if you do eat. But eat right. Lots of water, about 8 glasses a day. Eat about 6 meals a day, but little things, not like big dinners. Have a healthy breakfast, and maybe a morning or evening jog.
  • If your friend is anorexic, she may already be at an unhealthy low weight. If that's the case, she doesn't need any healthier ways to lose weight- she needs to deal with her eating disorder and start getting serious about being healthy. If she's not truly anorexic, but is showing an unhealthy body image and eating disordered behavior, she still needs to deal wit her eating disorder and start getting serious about being healthy. The most important thing is to be healthy and sane. Being thin should not be a priority. Model healthy body image and behavior by never making "I'm fat" comments about yourself or in relation to anyone else. Be active- walk, run, go swimming and play sports. Enjoy healthy delicious meals but don't focus on them excessively. Hopefully your good influence will rub off on your friend- or at least you can help to avoid triggering her, and you can make sure that she doesn't make you uncomfortable about your own body. http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/developing-and-maintaining-positive-body-image
