How can I determine how many calories I burn at my job?

I'm trying to chart out my calories burned daily versus what I take in. I work in a store, processing stock to go to shelves. Six hours of my job a day is either standing or slow walking, while picking up and setting down boxes a lot.Two hours of my job however are unloading said boxes from a tractor trailer, which consists of picking up 700+ boxes every hour that weight between 20 - 50 pound while standing in one spot but bending and turning constantly. OR I may be at the opposite end of the truck, lifting up around 150 of the same boxes every hour and walking them back and forth to put away at a very fast pace. Either way my heart speed usually picks up a great deal, so I imagine I'm getting a good work out.

  • There are some great (free) online programs and apps that can help you determine how many calories you burndoing everyday activities - you can also track your diet so you know your balance of kcals in vs kcals out. You could also wear a heart rate monitor at work to more accurately track that. Again, some great programs to input your stats to get a better idea of how many kcals youre burning. But my suggestion is to check out an app like MyFitnessPal or the like and try it out for a week or so.
