Is eating too much peanut butter bad?

I eat like 2 reece cups a day, every single day.I am a female. I am 5'4 and pretty lean. I weigh 130, and work out and lift weights. I want to know if this will make me gain weight? Should I work out more if I eat multiple reece cups everyday? I work out 2-3 times per week. They are so delicious, I believe I'm addicted!

You will gain weight if these 2 reece cups bring your total calorie intake above your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) aka. if you're eating more than you're burning then you'll gain weight. It's great that you lift weights..if only more females did the same!! Regarding the Reese's Cups (I have never actually tried one of these...):"But, like everything in life, you'll have to moderate your indulgence, and the 10-20% guideline is the best way I've found to do this. There currently is no compelling evidence suggesting that a diet whose calories are 80-90% from whole & minimally processed foods is not prudent enough for maximizing health, longevity, body composition, or training performance" *

  • There is a difference between eating peanut butter and eating reece cups... Peanut butter, and especially natural peanut butter, isn't all that bad for you. However, in reece cups, you are just eating processed peanut butter, with added sugar and chocolate, so it is obviously not unhealthy. If you eat well besides that and workout, you probably will not gain a bunch of fat from having one or two everyday, however if you continue to eat them and then more, and stop working out and stuff like that then you will. Either way, whether you are gaining weight or not, eating a package or two of those things isn't helping your body, so I wouldn't get into the habit.
  • well those reese cups carry alot of sugar and fat in them if i were you id limit myself to about maybe a couple on a friday
  • I would chuck them and find a healthier option :) Too much of anything is bad for you! Try a healthy grain/cereal bar or something, not a sugary high-calorie one though.

I know how you feel, I always crave so much at night it's frustrating.. You could try to grab some fruits (a plateful or something) and eat that since they keep you full and are easy to digest or just drink water really quick and a lot, it makes you feel bloated and you don't want to eat anything lol. You could also just exercise until you're tired, it makes you feel full, at least me, I don't feel hungry afterwards.

  • So stop "dieting" (that's the reason you've needed to lose weight more than once...because you get off the diet and the weight comes back over time)...Make a lifestyle change...look up 'clean eating' and head in that direction...take responsibility for what you eat, and take control of your eating...if you snack at night, keep nothing in the house that is unealthy so if you eat it'll have to be something good like fruit or raw veggies or some yogurt...You have to want to be healthy (or lose weight, or whatever your goal is) more than you want that quick fix of unhealthy food...that's not to say you can never eat "junk" again...but make it an occasional treat (maybe once a week a single item or a reasonable treat meal), not a regular part of your eating program...

  • Night time snacking is something that you may just have to live with. To keep it from ruining your weight loss goals you need to find a way to manage it so that you can snack at night without ruining your diet. Air or stove popped popcorn is a great night snacking food full of carbs and salt (try to stay away from the butter) yet very low in calories.
