How can I gain weight for football?

Ok well right now I am 15 years old and I am about 5'4 and I weigh like 110 pounds, (yes im skinny) im a sophomore in highschool. Over the summer I was lifting weights with the football team and I gained like 5 pounds (im not weak). Ok well im trying to get bigger because im going to be on varsity next year. I have a friend that is a senior on varsity and he is the same height as me but he weighs 145 pounds and he's not even fat. How do I gain weight? Im going to have a weight lifting class in school so I have a whole year of lifting weights 5 days a week everyday, should I take some sort of supplement like muscle milk or creatine so that I can gain weight or cytogainer?

.........eat pizza! Chase it with two steaks, and 5 hard-boiled eggs. Fact: you will "g-a-i-n" after doing this for two weeks straight........LOTS of it.

  • Yes supplements will def help. My brother gained within 2months! There's a whey supplements that tells you to gain muscles :)
  • You really should be more concerned about your conditioning and your strength. When I was a senior in High School I played Strong Safety at 5'9" and 140lbs. When I was a Sophomore I was closer to your size. Today I am 6' 1/2" and weigh 195lbs.Simply put, your body will fill out in time. You should lift weights, eat a lot, take some supplements. But to be honest, as much as you don't want to heat this, your body is really what is in control of your weight. You're not going to make significant weight gains until your body is ready to grow. I learned that the hard way myself. So the best thing you can do is control the things you can control and not try to do anything stupid regarding your weight. Don't take steroids, for example. It will actually stunt your growth (height). Get strong, get fast, and work with what you have. 110lbs running a 4.5 40yd dash and hitting anyone with the ball HURTS. It hurts you too but they don't need to know that.BTW - muscle milk is in no way a Weight gain supplement. It's a meal replacement at best. THe best supplement (seriously) is a big steak. That other stuff is not good. That, and it's expensive, and it won't help you - bottom line. Time is the only thing that will help you gain any significant weight.Good luck!
  • Gotta be 18 for creatine and the supplements you mention are crap & very expensive. Be sure to eat right (pasta, pizza, eggs, fruit, vegetables, cottagecheese) Give it time: I was around 130 in high school but am now around 170 which didn't happen overnight.
  • Go get those twinkies

  • Personally, I do not believe that you need to take any supplements for football. Moreover, I do not even believe that you need to gain any weight for football.Based on your height and weight, I believe that the best fit for you is at the wide receiver position. For your age, you have the ideal size for a high school sophomore wide receiver.Remember, the best way to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition to weight lifting, what you need to do this autumn (and every offseason) is eat healthy, and exercise by either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch wide receiver in high school varsity football, who could go on to play college football.By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your sophomore, junior, and especially senior, years of high school, NOT your size. If you perform very well in football during your final 3 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

I am 14 weeks pregnant but have not gained any weight. Is this normal?

This is my third child, and with my other two children I started gaining weight right away. I have had an ultrasound about 3 weeks ago and the measurements all added up correctly, but I'm curious as to why my weight has not changed. I look and feel as if I have gained weight though....

Every pregnancy is different, and unless your doctors are worried I wouldn't give it too much thought. I didn't put on my first until I was 18 weeks pregnant and now at 33 weeks pregnant I've barely put on 11 pounds but my baby is perfectly healthy.

  • You have probably just gained a small amount of weight in the area that your body requires such as your uterus and breasts. Some women don't put on much weight at all through pregnancy, and each pregnancy is different. You might just put some on toward the end anyway it's good not to put excess. Don't worry.
  • Every pregnancy just varies some hardly gain any extra weight in areas and some do. If its bothering I'd ask your dr to make sure your taking your vitamins and doing the necessary things
  • Between your baby weight and loosing some fat it could just be balanced out. I'm 19 weeks and have only put on 2 pounds. But I've also been eating a lot better then before I was pregnant. My mother never gained a pound with me. If it helps this is very common if your a little overweight

if you where shaking, you are doing something very wrong. Sounds like you needed to eat, so dont worry about it. When you are dieting, eating healthy is the best way to do it. But really its all about the calories, its a numbers game. You just have to maintain a calorie deficit burning more than you eat to lose weight. When i was doing Insanity the first time, i didnt even diet and still lost weight because of the insanely high amount of calories i was burning. I was eating fast food too. Once i remember eating a mcdonalds double cheeseburger for lunch and was sure i wouldnt lose weight cause of it. But the next day i weighed in and had lost 1.5 lbs! lol.. so a large fry, not the best choice but if you are consistent with your workouts and your overall calories are still low, dont worry about it.

  • I was unaware LRG partnered with McDonalds.
  • You can lose weight, just got to make sure you're eating enough! Shaking isn't good (not serious) but would suggest you're not taking in enough food. If you don't eat enough you won't lose the weight.
