As an amature boxer should i be gaining weight or losing?

i have been training for a few months now and i am almost ready to have my first amature fight. i have been losing weight to improve my speed, punching power, and to get more toned and cut down body fat. i went from 180 lbs to 165 lbs should i increase my weight or continue to lose?

How to Diet with Brown Rice to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

If you strictly:1. follow a good training program, and,2. eat a proper boxer's diet, you will naturally arrive at your "ideal" boxing weight.

Other Answers:

  • Most all fighters have a natural "fighting weight" at which they perform best. Where you have a combination of good power and also endurance and quickness. You may have to experiment to find your perfect weight... Even pro fighters do. I assume you have a coach.... Ask him.
  • I'm very skinny , naturally.I've always seen it as a curse. Being skinnier than girls were depressing as shiit. So when I started martial arts, I gained weight.I've pretty low bodyfat %. My bodyfat remains more or less the same, might have increased slightly since I eat a lot more now. And even though I've gained weight, I'm still faster than when I was skinny. So get toned, try to keep a low bodyfat % (don't overdo it, there's a limit ofc) and keep strenghten/building muslce and you're all good :DKeep fighting!
