How long do you think I need to lose some weight?

I am 6 feet 220 lbs. I am overweight, border line obese. For some one of my build I would consider myself fit, but I would like to become fitter all around. I have done multiple half marathons, and am preparing to complete a half iron man. And play tennis for about 6 hours a week, but I believe I eat too much.Based on your experiences, how long do you think it would take me to drop about 40 lbs, and put on some muscle?What about achieving a 6 pack. Do you think it is doable in 8 months?Any suggestions on how I should proceed?
