Why do I have Prolonged Diarrhea?

I went on a vacation to Spain, Morocco, and Portugal. At my last stop in Portugal I had horrible stomach problems. I would eat and within 20 minutes I would HAVE to go to the bathroom. I took a pill the last day and that stopped things. I have been home for two weeks now and I have been having diarrhea pretty often. One day was particularly bad where 5 minutes after I ate I would have to use the bathroom, I could feel my intestines moving. I also have had a very slight weight loss, like about 3lbs.Could this be anything? I have overall good health, I am thin and somewhat active. I am a 19 year old female. I have a childhood history of autoimmune anemia.

Hi there Adrienne,I realize that you are currently worried about your wellbeing. Nevertheless, you need to understand that with your description of the symptoms, it can be extremely hard for anybody to attempt a diagnosis even if they were an MD. I am sure you already know what your physician would certainly say, if you called him up, repeated everything you stated right here and requested a diagnosis on the phone. He'd acknowledge he cannot come up with a diagnosis without first examining you up, perhaps have some blood examination completed, listen to your chest, screen your heartbeat etc.Leaving your health in the care of untrained and unknown people is the most awful possible idea you could have. Virtually any answer you may receive will be in the form "oh sure...I had developed the identical symptoms and it was this, this or that..." The symptoms you describe and your travels highly suggest a viral infection. Normally nothing serious. Bear in mind however that the very same symptoms don't invariably imply the exact same cause for everyone. Even though you could get a answer from some user professing to be an MD you would probably have no guarantee that they are really an MD, rather than some 13 yr old who may be up for a joke. Do not ever put your health into the hands of complete strangers. You do not know who may be answering your concern. Instead, stop by a medical expert at the earliest opportunity and ask him to check you up. It might be almost certainly nothing to concern yourself with however it certainly is better to make sure. Our wellbeing is the most important possession that each of us has. No money in the bank, jewels, cars or houses are as precious as it is. Take care of it the best you can. Best wishes!
