How much hay does a Miniature horse eat?

I got a mini, but I'm unsure of how much hay to feed him when the time comes. Is it 1 flake a day, 2 flakes a day etc... I'm buying good quality bermuda square bales and the hay will be put in a hay net for less wastage. I don't want to buy too much or too little.... So. How much does YOUR mini eat?Assuming the bales are about 75lbs and the flakes are a good weight each.He is average size. Not fat, not skinny, about 35 inches tall. 3 years old.It will be in the pasture 24/7 with no extra feed. Grass/hay only. My pastures are dust so i'm assuming this is the main source of food it will be getting. Will not be rugged/blanketed

How to Lose Weight After 50

Minis are very easy keepers. I feed mine 1 flake 2x daily and he goes out on grass for a few hours a day and he is fat! I've known minis to get fat on 1/2 flake 2x day. With a good quality Bermuda hay I would start him on 1 flake 2x day and weight tape him after a week to see if he's gained/lost.

  • It depends, will he be eating a hard feed also? Will he be rugged during winter or not? Will he be stabled or turned out and how long for. If I had a mini he/she would be out 24/7 and unrugged during winter. I would feed 1-2 flakes a day along with the grass he already eats. I'd make sure he got a tiny hard feed, only for supplements I wouldn't feed any pellets or anything apart from oaten/wheaten chaff along with supplements etc. It can be hard because most minis put on weight really easy and are prone to founder and/or colic most of the time. They certainly can be hard to maintain. Try him on grass only at first and then see how his weight goes, give him maybe half a flake of hay for in his stable. Make sure he is getting NO fat or sugar in his feeds.
  • I fed my mini 3 flakes a day 3/4 of a flake breakfast, lunch, and dinner and than a late night snack. And no grain.
  • Horses need protein and Bermuda Grass Hay has no protein. Why are you feeding that? It is good to give to him to keep him busy so he doesn't get bored and chew on things he should not be chewing on. Talk to your feed store. I feed alfalfa hay in different forms. For example, the Chaffhaye I feed for breakfast says they should have 2 - 2.5 pounds per hundred weight per day. So if your mini is typical and weighs about 250 - 275 pounds, then three pounds of food for breakfast and again for dinner. This is true whether feeding alfalfa hay, pellets or cubes. There are several companies, such as Purina, that have feed for miniature horses and they will tell you how much to feed. Your Bermuda Hay could then be there to give him roughage or fiber.By the way, other parts of the country have a grass hay that does have nutrition.
  • The correct way to feed hay is to feed by weight. If the horse weighs 200# It will require a MINIMUM of 2# a day.Experience has taught me that more hay is better than any grain.I increase hay until I hit the point where some is left at the next feeding.Hay is more than food, it is the very best pacifier you will ever find.If you are feeding coastal you are in my general vicinity.Select the hay with tiny stems and fine leaves.feeding out of a hay bag makes waste. A ground level bunk with a cover to pick the hay out of is best.Barring a parasite infestation your little one will stay fat on just hay and limited pasture.
  • If he is on pasture 24/7 I would only give 2 flakes of hay one flake in the morning and one in the evening. Mini's gain weight really fast due to we can't ride them to get the fat off like we can bigger horses. As for grain, you can feed grain but if you do. I you have a flogers can fill it about 1/4 full and then give it to him once a day. Feed him a feed that will actually help him, not one that will get him fat. I wouldn't feed sweet feed at all.

Personally, I do not believe that you need to gain any weight for football. Based on your height and weight, I believe that you will make a very good fit at defensive end. For your age, you have the ideal size for a high school junior varsity defensive end.Remember, the best way to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this autumn (and every offseason) is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch defensive end in high school football, who could go on to play college football in the future.

Where the heck is my period? Pregnancy through making out?

I realize the title is ridiculous. But my situation is getting ridiculous. My period is a week late. I have no sign what so ever that it's even thinking about coming soon. I'm 15, 16 in December, and I'm way past that "erratic period" stage in puberty. I've had my period since I was 12 and a half, so three years. I've been completely regular for nearly a year according to my memory. 28 days a cycle, same symptoms each time. The last significantly late period I can remember happened to me when was 14. Nothing significant has happened that would cause a late period. No major stress. No new diet. No change in exercise. No significant weight loss/gain. No medications unless you count a round of antibiotics. I have been sleeping a lot, not moving around much at all, and I admit my diet is awful but that's not really a new occurrence. The only symptoms I've had is thick discharge the is happening so much that I keep thinking my period is here when it's not, and a tiny, tiny bit of breast soreness that could only be happening because I keep checking for soreness. I am a virgin. I do make out with my boyfriend, all clothes on. The thought pre-ejaculate could have gotten through layers of clothing is just a ridiculous thought. But because I'm naturally a worrier, I keep getting "what if" thoughts. Could my period be late because I'm so obsessed with it coming? I think about it all the time. Could the antibiotics have affected it? Maybe my poor diet and lack of exercise could finally be contributing? I just need some help.

You will get your period. It is not coming because of all your worrying. The more you worry the later it will arrive. There is no way sperm could get through all of your clothes. BUT i would suggest buying a pregnancy test and taking it just so you can see that you are not pregnant? It will help you calm down so that your period can come.
