How to become a better High School defensive end?

Im 16 and play jv for lakeville south, im a bit of an undersized dline only at 5'9 190 and the guys I go up against are like 6'4 240, im stronger than the most of the dline guys but since theyre tall their reach gives them an advantage when putting their hands on the opponent am I right? So how do I become a good d end even with my smaller size? Is it pure strength and power and weight gain because thats what im beginning to do, also if.you could give me some tipa on how to beat the big dudes when they reach for me thatd be great!

Personally, I do not believe that you need to gain any weight for football. Based on your height and weight, I believe that you will make a very good fit at defensive end. For your age, you have the ideal size for a high school junior varsity defensive end.Remember, the best way to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this autumn (and every offseason) is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch defensive end in high school football, who could go on to play college football in the future.
