1800 calories a day enough?

I just started keeping a food journal mostly to try and see what might be making my acid reflux worse and chest pains worse. The journal is online and has an automatic calorie counter. I've been recording every thing I eat and drink and I've found that I've been consuming, on average, about 1800 calories a day. Sometimes a bit more. Is that too little? I am not on a diet. I just eat whenever I feel hungry and I stop when I am comfortably full. Not stuffed! I'm just a naturally small person so it doesn't take much for me to feel full. The foods I do eat are pretty healthy. I am 5'2" and 104 lbs. I walk daily for at least thirty minutes and I do light weight training every other day. Is this a healthy number of calories for a petite person that is just a bit active?

Recommended Answer:

that,s a good number. my wife had always been sensitive to greasy foods. she has to take a prevacid generic before eating or she gets massive indigestion. you seem to be quite healthy in all other respects. journaling is a great idea.

Other Answers:

  • Maybe for you already enough don't eat any thing sweet or fried if you don't want your weight raise :)
  • 1800 calories is perfect for women ..especially your height ...average daily intake for women is 1800-2000 and men 2000-2200
  • Do not listen to anyone on yahoo answers about this. Health is a serious matter. Speak with your doctor.
  • Only you know, it looks grand to me. Make sure protein is high 100 gs ( around 1 g per lbs BW)
  • That should be enough calories...you are rather slim, but apparently have a fast metabolism...you could consume more if desired...
