Why do people lose weight when they've lost their appetite?

The answer might seem obvious, but it's confusing. When someone stops eating, they're metabolism slows because their body doesn't know when it's going to be fed again therefore causing the body to hold on to food/energy weight and fat. That's why crash diets are ultimately ineffective resulting in SLOW weight loss and commonly ending with weight gain. But why does a loss in appetite essentially make people lose weight for example when they're depressed and not consciously avoiding food unlike someone on a crash ddiet would? people with loss in appetite and people crash dieting don't eat a lot if at all however people who volunteeringly fast tend to lose weight slowly and end up gaining it back even faster while depressed or sick ppl with no appetite lose it effortlessly and almost obliviously?

How to Lose Weight Overnight

Recommended Answer:

It all depends on the length of time in which they are not eating. Crash dieters don't eat for short periods of time, whereas people without appetites eat very little for longer periods of time. Also, crash dieters tend to "crash" at some point and then end of binge eating. If you burn more calories than you consume, you WILL lose weight. This process can certainly slow down as the body tries to conserve its energy stores, but it never stops entirely.

Other Answers:

  • People on crash diets essentially eat things low in calories. Salads and fruits. When someone loses their appetite, they usually will eat (when they do eat) very high calorie foods. This causes their metabolism to still keep at its normal pace. Many people who have lost their appetite will usually grab that bag of chips or cookies and munch on that during boring parts of the day. They never actually eat a meal, but still munch and snack on thingsNow if you are meaning someone who just does not eat at all and drinks liquids only, then they are essentially losing just water weight and peeing out their fat
