I was diagnosed with type 2 about 2.5 years ago. I went on a low carb (not no carb) diet. I got a program on my phone called fatsecret (myfitnesspal works as well), and started tracking every single thing I ate. I was 6 foot 225, so my carb target was 150-200 per day, 1500-2000 calories, and 1/3rd or less in fat. After 6 months I was down 30 pounds and to this day haven't had to take diabetes drugs.Other Answers:
- Exercise and controlling your diet. I'd suggest working with your doctor and possibly even a dietician to figure out what plans would be best for you, especially since you are a diabetic.
- The vast majority of people I know with Type 2 have lost weight rather easily. They have done it by counting carbs and exercising. Most of them also take Metformin. Note that weight loss is more difficult for diabetics who take insulin.
- Try a vegetarian diet. This is mostly for type 2. It will make you lose quick with exercize. Just walk a half a mile a day. I have been doing this and lost 20 lbs so far Good Luck!
- The first step is to try and control your diabetes by eating right and complying with your medications. Proper Diet, meaning no skipping meals and eating the right type of food, and proper exercise atleast 3 x a week or more can do huge in terms of making you not only fir but also healthy.
