Is it true some people treat you better when you lose weight? or are slimmer?

Ive heard numerous stories of people losing some weight and having people treat them better. I mean LOTS of people and not just a a few pounds im talking dramatic weight loss (in most cases unnecessary). Example: A woman who was a bit overweight when she went out to shops etc staff never treated her well, often avoided her if she needed help and girls would always stare and laugh at her but then she lost lots of weight and all of the sudden women were nicer to her, shop assistants approached her to offer help, a man even stopped his car just to check if she was okay changing her tire. is this true, are people that shallow? or do these people just have a new found confidence they haven't noticed yet.

I went from a fat kid who weighed about 180lbs of pure fat to someone who weighs 183lbs of muscle at 9% body fat. People who i used to know start to respect me more and also i get more attention from girls. Other than that people wont really treat you nicer because of your weight it all depends on the person judging you. Some people are very judgemental. I personally dont care if someone is fat or skinny as long as they are nice then ill treat them equally
